Dark : Series Review

All the fans of time travel have got themselves a very nice treat with this new series by Netflix. This new series Dark is a German science fiction thriller family drama series created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. Set in the fictional small town of Winden, it revolves around four interconnected families haunted by their secrets, and contains elements of science fiction and fantasy. In 2019 a local boy disappears which catapults a series of bizarre events, from a mystery man coming from the future to travelling through time. Though this series starts slow at first but just after one or two episodes we get gripped in on the entire premise of bizarre time travel and alternate reality. All the time travelling loopholes that we have seen in other movies are near-perfectly explained in this series and though the concepts explained in the series might be too complicated for the less geeky sci-fi people, the devoted ones have found a gem for themselves. The Background score and cinematography is also top notch along with the premise of the story.

The cast of Dark have done splendid work and have given it all. All the different variants of the same character have been cast perfectly and we can see no one else in those roles. Chemistry between them is palpable,  especially between the main leads i.e. Jonas Kahnwald(Loius Hofman) and Martha Nielsen(Lisa Vicari). Though this series is primarily made in German, dub and sub options for many other languages are provided for the viewers.

Dark is a must watch for all time travel nerds out there and for those looking to expand their domain from their regional television. Though it feels stretched sometime, Dark tackles time travel and parallel universes like never before. Entire series is perfectly wrapped up to finish in three seasons. It gets under your skin almost immediately, bringing a chill with it.
